Second Scoring Assignments for the 2023–24 Summative Alternate ELPAC Test Administration

Every year, a subset of schools assigned to form 2 will be required to participate in second scoring. Second scoring is the process of having a secondary test examiner (TE), who is an educator who has completed training for the Alternate ELPAC administration, score a student's rubric-scored items simultaneously, yet independently, from the student's primary TE. If a school has been selected to participate in second scoring, the secondary TE must have access to the DFA and be present during the entirety of the administration along with the student and primary TE.

Selected schools must provide a second score for all rubric-scored items on the Summative Alternate ELPAC for each of their students. If you do not have any students participating in the Summative Alternate ELPAC and have been selected to second score, your LEA has met your requirement. However, if a student enters your school and has to take the Summative Alternate ELPAC, you are required to conduct second scoring for that student.

Approximately seven to nine items in each test will require a secondary TE to score a student's live response during the time of testing using a rubric provided in the DFA. All second scores must be entered into the Data Entry Interface (DEI) prior to the close of the Summative Alternate ELPAC test administration window. This can be done by the secondary TE or a designated staff member. An answer-recording sheet in the appendices of the DFA can be used by the secondary test examiner to record judgments on student responses if scores will be entered into the DEI at a later time. Note that those schools assigned to form 1 should not access the DEI, as they will not participate in second scoring during this administration.

Use the lookup tool to search the school by name or CDS code to check if your school is selected for second scoring. If your school shows up on the lookup tool, your school has been selected for second scoring.
