ELPAC Results Are In-Now What? Virtual Workshops Registration Is Open
ELPAC email update, December 3, 2020.
Dear Local Educational Agency (LEA) ELPAC Coordinator:
Registration is now open for the 2019–2020 English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) Results Are In—Now What? Connecting Assessment to Instruction virtual workshops.
In support of the measures being taken nationwide to slow the spread of coronavirus disease 2019, the California Department of Education, Educational Testing Service, and the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) will present this virtual workshop as a series of seven professional learning modules that will be posted online. The modules will demonstrate how to use ELPAC data to advance English language proficiency through high-leverage instructional sequences tied to ELPAC task types. Participants will learn to use a protocol that links three ELPAC task types to robust classroom instruction which can be used to create ELPAC-like assessments and instructional sequences in context. Video clips, student work, and reflections from the implementation of these practices with English learner students will be shared.
The workshop is designed for educators, including classroom teachers, coaches, teachers on special assignment, and administrators who play a role in supporting high quality instruction for English learner students in the classroom. The modules are designed for local facilitation in small teams but are also accessible as stand-alone learning experiences. Participants can select topics based on their prior knowledge and experience.
Register on the ELPAC Moodle Training Site . Users will need to create an account if they have not previously used Moodle for ELPAC training. Once the account is created and you are logged in, select the ELPAC Results Are In link and then enter the ELPAC Results Are In, Now What? Virtual Workshop link. Complete the registration to unlock the modules.
Modules 1, 2, and 3 are now available. Modules 4 through 7 will be available in February 2021.
