Reminder! 2019–2020 Summative ELPAC Return and Destruction of Materials
ELPAC email update, November 9, 2020.
Dear LEA ELPAC Coordinator:
The optional administration of the 2019–2020 Summative ELPAC concluded on October 30, 2020.
Return Completed Kindergarten Through Grade Two (K–2) Writing Materials
Local educational agencies (LEAs) should continue to ship all completed K–2 Answer Books back to Educational Testing Service (ETS) by November 16, 2020, or they will not be scored. Only completed ELPAC Writing domain Answer Books for K–2 students can be returned to ETS for scoring. Please read and follow the 2019–20 Summative ELPAC Packing and Return Instructions. LEAs have the option to download and complete the ELPAC School Group List when returning Answer Books to serve as a reference for both the LEA and ETS as to what is being returned in each shipment. It is recommended that LEAs keep a copy of the ELPAC School Group List for their records to track the test materials being returned to ETS. Test materials must be returned in the white return cartons provided. To order additional white return cartons, please contact the California Technical Assistance Center (CalTAC).
LEA ELPAC coordinators that anticipate an issue with returning materials by the deadline will need to contact CalTAC prior to the deadline.
Secure Destruction of the 2019–2020 Summative ELPAC Materials
LEAs have the option to either securely destroy test materials locally or return materials to ETS for destruction. LEAs must inform ETS of the method of destruction or of the return of the 2019–2020 Summative ELPAC test materials by completing the 2019–2020 Summative ELPAC Test Materials Return or Destruction Certification form no later than Monday, November 16, 2020.
The following are examples of materials that will require secure destruction:
- Examiner's Manuals
- Used and unused Test Books (grades three through twelve)
- Unused Answer Books (kindergarten through grade twelve)
- Unused grade two Test Books and Answer Books
- Voided Answer Books
- All unopened Answer Books and Test Books
- Unused student pre-identification labels
