Announcing the Alternate ELPAC: “The Results Are In—Now What? Module Series”
ELPAC email update, November 1, 2023.
Dear California Educator:
Announcing the new Alternate English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC): The Results Are In—Now What? instructional module series is now available on the Moodle Training Site (Moodle) .
This training series is designed for educators, including classroom teachers, coaches, teachers on special assignment, and administrators who play a role in supporting high-quality classroom instruction for English learner (EL) students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. The modules are designed for local facilitation in small teams but are also accessible as stand-alone learning experiences. The new Alternate ELPAC Results Are In module series will introduce at least one module or several smaller modules each year.
Modules available for viewing focus on multilingual learners with extensive support needs and the Alternate ELPAC. The modules explore the Alternate ELPAC task types and English language development (ELD) Connectors along with communication modes linking to instruction. The module includes video clips, student work, and reflections from the implementation of these practices with EL students with the most significant cognitive disabilities.
Access the modules now on Moodle . Moodle requires users to create an account if an educator has not previously used Moodle. Enrollment keys are not required, and educators are able to self-enroll in the module courses. After creating an account and logging on, scroll down the "Course Categories" and under "ELPAC: The Results Are In, Now What?", select the [Alternate ELPAC: Modules] link.
