ELPAC: 2022–23 Summative Alternate ELPAC Moodle Training Site Opening Tuesday
ELPAC email update, October 31, 2022.
Dear LEA ELPAC Coordinator:
This is a reminder that the 2022–23 Summative Alternate ELPAC Moodle Training on the Moodle Training Site (Moodle) opens Tuesday, November 1, 2022. Certification is required for any LEA with students eligible for the Summative Alternate ELPAC.
LEA ELPAC coordinators must complete the certification course in Moodle for the Summative Alternate ELPAC—LEA Certification course by December 16, 2022, to meet the LEA training requirement.
Test examiners will need to complete the Summative Alternate ELPAC—Test Examiner Certification course prior to administering the assessment.
Accessing Moodle Keys and Resources: The LEA ELPAC coordinator is the only person with access to the LEA Moodle keys and is responsible for distributing these keys to the appropriate staff. To obtain the Moodle enrollment keys, the LEA ELPAC coordinator must log on to the Administration and Scoring Training (AST) website using the following access code:
Alternate ELPAC access code for <LEA>: <PASSCODE>
Once the LEA ELPAC coordinator has accessed the AST website , select the [Summative Alternate ELPAC Moodle Training Site] button to find the Summative Alternate ELPAC Moodle enrollment keys and the Moodle User Account Template. Moodle requires users to set up individual user accounts and have enrollment keys. Users who have already established a Moodle account for other CAASPP or ELPAC trainings do not need to create a new account.
Alternate ELPAC Moodle Enrollment Keys and Trainer Reporting Access: There are two Alternate ELPAC Moodle enrollment keys for the Summative Alternate ELPAC training, allowing any LEA staff member to log on and access the resources for the Summative Alternate ELPAC. The LEA ELPAC coordinator will need to issue the appropriate enrollment keys to test examiners.
To allow the Alternate ELPAC trainers access to test examiners' reports of training and calibration in Moodle, the LEA ELPAC coordinator must submit the names and email addresses of the trainers responsible for monitoring. To identify the Alternate ELPAC trainer, the LEA ELPAC coordinator must log on to the AST website , select the [Summative Alternate ELPAC Moodle Training Site] button, and complete the "LEA Trainer Reporting Access - Summative" section. Each LEA may provide reporting access for up to three trainers.
Ordering Picture Cards: There will be a new set of picture cards for the Summative Alternate ELPAC. Be sure that any picture cards from the operational field test have been destroyed. The LEA ELPAC coordinator is the only person with access to order picture cards on the AST website . Once the LEA ELPAC coordinator has accessed the AST website, the LEA coordinator will select the [Summative Alternate ELPAC Picture Cards] button to place an order.
Not all students will require the use of picture cards. Picture cards are part of optional individualization for the Alternate ELPAC and are designed for use by students who regularly use picture cards or an Augmentative and Alternative Communication device as an expressive mode of communication during daily instruction. LEA coordinators should work with special education staff to determine how many grade-level and grade-span sets of pictures cards should be ordered for each site.
