CAASPP and ELPAC email update, October 2, 2020.
Dear California Educator:
Due to high levels of interest in the Matching Accessibility Resources to Students' Needs virtual training Educational Testing Service (ETS), on behalf of the California Department of Education, will offer additional training dates for participants to choose from. To accommodate all interested participants, we have added the following dates for this training:
- October 2, 2020, 1−3 p.m.
- October 9, 2020, 1−3 p.m.
- October 26, 2020, 1−3 p.m.
- October 27, 2020, 1−3 p.m.
Register now! This training will focus on providing participants with an understanding of the importance of accessibility resources, the categories of accessibility resources, and the process for matching students with appropriate accessibility resources for daily instruction and on assessments.
Participants will learn how to categorize accessibility resources into Universal Design for Learning (UDL) categories. UDL provides a research-based framework for teachers to incorporate flexible materials, techniques, and strategies for delivering instruction, and for students to demonstrate their knowledge in a variety of ways. Participants also will learn how to use the new online Individual Student Assessment Accessibility Profile (ISAAP) Tool to select and assign resources to students for both the CAASPP and ELPAC assessments.
LEA CAASPP coordinators and LEA ELPAC coordinators are encouraged to attend and share this opportunity with staff who may benefit from this training, such as special education specialists, curriculum coordinators, or teachers on special assignment.
Materials will be posted on the CAASPP 2020–21 Training Opportunities and ELPAC 2020–21 Training Opportunities web pages. This virtual training also will be recorded and archived alongside the materials a week after the event.
LEA coordinators should direct questions about this virtual training or the 2020–21 CAASPP and ELPAC administrations to CalTAC, by phone at 800-955-2954 or by email at caltac@ets.org. LEA staff should direct questions to the LEA coordinator.
Sincerely,
