ELPAC: Announcing the 2023–24 Summative Alternate ELPAC Administration and Scoring Training
ELPAC email update, September 26, 2023.
Dear LEA ELPAC Coordinator:
The 2023–24 Summative Alternate ELPAC Administration and Scoring Training will be available online. The Summative Alternate ELPAC testing window is February 1, 2024, through May 31, 2024. To prepare for this test administration, the Sacramento County of Education (SCOE) has created online training modules available through the Moodle Training Site (Moodle) that will open on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. These modules are required for any LEA with students eligible for either the Initial Alternate ELPAC or the Summative Alternate ELPAC. An eligible student is designated as an English learner and has an individualized education program specifying the use of an alternate assessment.
Certification Requirements: LEA ELPAC coordinators must complete the certification course in Moodle prior to continuing to administer the Initial Alternate ELPAC. LEA ELPAC coordinators must complete the Summative Alternate ELPAC—LEA Certification course by December 15, 2023, to meet the Summative Alternate ELPAC LEA training requirement.
There is only one certification course for Alternate ELPAC test examiners. Test examiners will need to complete the Alternate ELPAC—Test Examiner Certification course prior to administering either the Initial Alternate ELPAC or the Summative Alternate ELPAC.
Ordering Picture Cards: There will be a new set of picture cards for the Summative Alternate ELPAC. LEA coordinators may either download picture cards from TOMS or order presorted cards, printed on cardstock from SCOE. The LEA ELPAC coordinator is the only person with access to the Administration and Scoring Training (AST) website where picture cards are ordered. Picture cards ordering will be available starting November 1, 2023. Prior to ordering new picture cards, ensure that any picture cards from the previous administration year have been securely destroyed.
