Alternate ELPAC: 2022–23 Initial Alternate ELPAC AST Moodle Opening Wednesday
ELPAC email update, May 31, 2022.
Dear LEA ELPAC Coordinator:
This is a reminder that the 2022–23 Initial Alternate ELPAC Moodle Training on the Moodle Training Site (Moodle) opens Wednesday, June 1, 2022. Certification is required for any LEA with students eligible for the Initial Alternate ELPAC.
LEA ELPAC coordinators who have already completed the certification course in Moodle for the Alternate ELPAC operational field test are required to complete only the two modules in the Initial Alternate ELPAC—LEA Certification course. LEA coordinators who have not completed an annual certification will need to complete the New LEA Coordinators Only—Initial Alternate ELPAC—LEA Certification course prior to administering the assessment.
Test examiners who have already completed the certification course for the Alternate ELPAC operational field test training in Moodle need not certify again. Test examiners who did not complete the certification during the operational field test will need to complete the New Test Examiners Only—Initial Alternate ELPAC—Test Examiner Certification course prior to administering the assessment.
Accessing Moodle Keys and Resources
The LEA ELPAC coordinator is the only person with access to the LEA Moodle keys and is responsible for distributing these keys to the appropriate staff. To obtain the Moodle enrollment keys, the LEA ELPAC coordinator must log on to the Administration and Scoring Training (AST) website using the following access code:
Alternate ELPAC access code for <DISTRICT>: <PASSCODE>
Once the LEA ELPAC coordinator has accessed the AST website , select the [Alternate ELPAC Moodle Training Site] button to find the Initial Alternate ELPAC Moodle enrollment keys and the Moodle User Account Template. Moodle requires users to set up individual user accounts and have enrollment keys. Users who have already established a Moodle account for other CAASPP or ELPAC trainings do not need to create a new account.
Alternate ELPAC Moodle Enrollment Keys
There are three Alternate ELPAC Moodle enrollment keys for the Initial Alternate ELPAC allowing any LEA staff member to log on and access the resources for the Initial Alternate ELPAC. The LEA ELPAC coordinator will need to issue the appropriate enrollment keys to test examiners.
Ordering Picture Cards
There will be a new set of picture cards for the Initial Alternate ELPAC. Be sure to securely destroy any picture cards from the operational field test. The LEA ELPAC coordinator is the only person with access to order picture cards on the AST website. Once the LEA ELPAC coordinator has accessed the AST website
, the LEA coordinator will select the [Alternate ELPAC Picture Cards] button to place an order. Not all students will require the use of picture cards. LEA coordinators should work with special education staff to determine how many grade levels or grade spans are represented at each site.
Questions regarding training and administration of the Initial Alternate ELPAC can be emailed to the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) ELPAC Project Team at elpac@scoe.net . Questions regarding Moodle can be emailed to SCOE at moodlesupport@scoe.net.
More information can be found on the Alternate ELPAC Training web page on the ELPAC website.
LEA ELPAC coordinators should direct other questions about the Initial Alternate ELPAC to their LEA Success Agent .
Sincerely,
California Outreach Team
