Action Required! 2021–22 ELPAC Test Materials Return or Destruction Certification

Dear LEA ELPAC Coordinator:
The 2021–22 Summative ELPAC and Alternate ELPAC operational field test testing window closes on May 31, 2022. The2021–22 Initial ELPAC testing window closes on June 30, 2022.
Secure Destruction of the 2021–22 ELPAC and Alternate ELPAC Test Materials
LEAs have the option to either securely destroy test materials locally or return materials to ETS for destruction. LEAs must inform ETS of the method of destruction or of the return of the test materials by completing the 2021–22 ELPAC and Alternate ELPAC Materials Return or Destruction Certification form no later than Friday, July 15, 2022. If returning the materials to ETS for destruction, follow the instructions in the ELPAC and Alternate ELPAC Secure Destruction and Return Instructions web document.
The following are examples of materials that will require secure destruction:

- Unused kindergarten through grade two (K–2) Writing Answer Books (Forms 1–6)
- Voided K–2 Writing Answer Books (Forms 1–6)
- Unused student pre-identification labels
- Student rosters
- Printed Directions for Administration (DFAs)
- Paper–pencil materials(Edition 1)
- Used K–12 all domain Answer Books
- Used Test Books (grade three through grade twelve)
- Used Examiner's Manuals
Initial ELPAC Materials Examples
- Used K–2 Writing Answer Books
- Printed DFAs
- Student rosters
- Unused student pre-identification labels
- Paper–pencil materials(Edition 1)

- LEAs may retain unused Initial ELPAC Form 1 Writing Answer Books for continued use for the 2022–23 administration. However, LEAs selected for the Rotating Score Validation Process must order new testing materials through the Test Operations Management System.
Materials to be destroyed should be returned in nonwhite cartons. Completed Summative ELPAC K–2 Writing materials must be returned in the white return cartons. If additional white cartons are needed, contact the LEA's assigned LEA Success Agent . Visit the California Outreach
