ELPAC: 2022–23 Initial Alternate ELPAC AST Information
ELPAC email update, May 17, 2022.
Dear LEA ELPAC Coordinator:
The 2022–23 Initial Alternate ELPAC Administration and Scoring Training (AST) will be presented in a virtual format. The Initial Alternate ELPAC testing window is July 5, 2022, through June 30, 2023. To prepare for this test administration, the Sacramento County of Education (SCOE) has created virtual training modules available through the Moodle Training Site (Moodle) that will open on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. These modules are required. At least one staff member from each LEA must complete the Initial Alternate ELPAC LEA Certification course.
Certification Requirements
LEA ELPAC coordinators who have already completed the certification course in Moodle for the Alternate ELPAC operational field test are required to complete only the two modules in the Initial Alternate ELPAC—LEA Certification course. LEA coordinators who have not completed the operational field test certification will need to complete the New Coordinators Only—Initial Alternate ELPAC—LEA Certification course prior to administering the assessment.
Test examiners who have already completed the certification course for the Alternate ELPAC operational field test in Moodle need not certify again. Test examiners who did not complete the certification during the operational field test will need to complete the New Test Examiners Only—Alternate ELPAC—Test Examiner Certification course prior to administering the assessment.
Student Registration Requirements
Prior to registering a student for the Initial Alternate ELPAC, an individualized education program (IEP) team meeting must be conducted, and there must be an IEP in place for the 2022–23 school year specifying that the student should take an alternate assessment. Any accommodations to statewide testing the student is to receive must be clearly described in the IEP, and the student should have the Alternate ELPAC selected in the Test Operations Management System. For additional guidance on IEPs, visit the IEP Module 3 web page.
Ordering Picture Cards
There will be a new set of picture cards for the Initial Alternate ELPAC. Be sure to securely destroy any picture cards from the operational field test. The LEA ELPAC coordinator is the only person with access to order picture cards. Picture cards ordering will be available starting June 1, 2022.
