2020–21 Initial ELPAC Administration and Scoring Training Moodle Opening Tomorrow
ELPAC email update, April 30, 2020.
Dear Local Educational Agency (LEA) ELPAC Coordinator,
This is a reminder that the 2020–2021 computer-based Initial English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) Moodle Training Site (Moodle) opens May 1.
To obtain your Moodle enrollment keys, you will need the registration code provided below. The LEA ELPAC coordinator must log on to the ELPAC Administration and Scoring Training registration site, select the [Initial ELPAC Moodle Training Resources] button to access your keys.
Registration access code: XXXXXXXX
District Trainer Moodle Account and Reporting Access: The LEA ELPAC coordinator is the only person with access to the enrollment keys and is, therefore, responsible for distributing these keys to appropriate LEA staff. The LEA ELPAC coordinator must also identify the LEA ELPAC trainer and must log on to the ELPAC Administration and Scoring Training registration site, select the [Initial ELPAC Moodle Training Resources] button and request an LEA Trainer Moodle User Account to provide them access to view reports in Moodle and monitor the calibration completion and quiz status of test examiners. The LEA ELPAC coordinator must submit the LEA trainer's name and email address to the ELPAC Administration and Scoring Training registration site. Each district may provide access for up to three trainers.
Moodle User Account Template: LEA trainers who wish to create individual Moodle accounts for their staff can use the template posted in Moodle. Filling out and submitting a User Account file is an easy way to create accounts for all test examiners in the LEA. The file can be populated with staff members' names and emails. Populated files should be emailed to ELPAC@scoe.net. Once the file is imported into Moodle, Moodle will send a confirmation email that a new account has been requested to each person listed in the file. Each person will need to confirm his or her account by selecting the link in the email confirmation. Instructions for using the Moodle User Account Template can be found in the Trainer's Resources course in Moodle.
LEA ELPAC coordinator should log on to the ELPAC Administration and Scoring Training registration site web page and enter their access code in the Submit code field. Select the [Initial ELPAC Moodle Training Site] button, which will take you to the web page to find your enrollment keys. Your LEA has five enrollment keys for the following courses: LEA Certification (kindergarten through grade twelve), LEA Certification (grades six through twelve), Trainer's Resources, Examiner's Resources, and Downloads.
LEA Certification (kindergarten through grade twelve [K–12]): This enrollment key allows the LEA coordinator, or their designee, access to the certification videos for kindergarten through grade twelve LEA certification.
LEA Certification (grades six through twelve [6–12]): This enrollment key allows the LEA coordinator, or their designee, access to the certification videos for grades six through twelve LEA certification.
Trainer's Resources: This enrollment key allows LEA trainers to log on to the Trainer's Resources course to access training presentations, along with the trainers' notes.
Examiner's Resources: This enrollment key allows LEA test examiners to automatically become part of the LEA's user group. The user group is set up to retain test examiners' training and calibration results and provide reports for LEA trainers to monitor test examiner training progress within Moodle.
Downloads: This enrollment key is only provided to LEA ELPAC coordinators and gives access to download the training binder and training videos. Access to this course should be limited to the LEA ELPAC coordinator and/or lead trainer.
In Moodle, the LEA ELPAC coordinator also may identify the Initial ELPAC trainer(s) and request LEA Trainer Reporting Access, if the trainer needs to view reports in Moodle and monitor calibration completion of test examiners. Please note that your LEA enrollment keys are different for the computer-based Summative ELPAC. Therefore, test examiners will need to be issued a new enrollment key by the LEA ELPAC coordinator.
Questions regarding training and administration of the Initial ELPAC can be submitted via the Questions and Comments link in the certification courses and the Trainer's Resource section in Moodle.
