ELPAC: 2023–24 Initial ELPAC AST Moodle is Now Open
ELPAC email update, April 24, 2023.
Dear LEA ELPAC Coordinator:
You are receiving this email because you are designated as the LEA ELPAC coordinator for the 2023–24 administration. This is a reminder that the 2023–24 Initial ELPAC Moodle Training Resources on the Moodle Training Site (Moodle) are now open.
Training Verification
Statewide training is mandatory. All LEA ELPAC coordinators, new and experienced, are required to log on to the Administration and Scoring Training (AST) website and select the [Initial ELPAC Training Verification] button. This will provide a current list of staff within the LEA who completed the Initial ELPAC training requirement. Once on the website, the LEA ELPAC coordinator will either check the Active box by the names of the active staff or notify the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) that the LEA has a Memorandum of Understanding in place with another LEA to provide testing, by emailing the SCOE Project Team at elpac@scoe.net. If the ELPAC coordinator or a designee is not listed as having completed the LEA certification for the Initial ELPAC, the LEA must decide who will need to complete the certification. Certification must be completed by August 4, 2023.
For 2023–24, experienced LEA coordinators do not need to repeat the LEA certification course, only verify LEA certification. The list of the training status of active staff will be updated weekly and will include trainee names, dates of completion, and the title of the training completed. It is highly recommended that experienced ELPAC coordinators watch the new 2023–24 Initial ELPAC: What's New video and attend the Initial ELPAC What's New Overview Question and Answer Session via Zoom on May 8, 2023 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. During this session, SCOE will overview the significant updates, and answer test administration and scoring questions for the Initial ELPAC. Register now Initial ELPAC What's New Overview Question and Answer Session
.
New LEA Coordinator Certification
If an LEA has a new ELPAC coordinator or lead trainer who has not been trained, the LEA certification must be completed. New LEA ELPAC coordinators can fulfill their training requirements by accessing the virtual training modules within Moodle .
Test Examiner Certification
The LEA ELPAC coordinator, or a designee, is responsible for overseeing test examiners' calibration progress and completion. For the Initial ELPAC, both new and experienced test examiners must calibrate annually and will be emailed a certificate of calibration upon successful completion. The Initial ELPAC Examiner Training and Calibration course has been updated with new student response videos.
Access Code for Moodle Enrollment Keys
To obtain the Moodle enrollment keys for all test examiners in the LEA, the following access code is needed:
ELPAC access code for <DISTRICT>: <PASSCODE>
LEA ELPAC coordinators must log on to the AST website and enter the access code in the Submit code field. Select the [Initial ELPAC Moodle Training Site] button, which will open the web page to find the enrollment keys. Each LEA has four enrollment keys for the Initial ELPAC, one for each of the following courses: Test Examiner Training and Calibration, LEA Certification (kindergarten through grade twelve), LEA Certification (grades six through twelve), and Trainer Resources.
LEA Trainer Moodle Account and Reporting Access
LEA trainer access needs to be set up for each administration. The LEA ELPAC coordinator is responsible for distributing the enrollment keys to appropriate LEA staff. To view reports of test examiners' completion, the LEA ELPAC coordinator must identify up to three individuals who will monitor completion. Log on to the AST website, select the [Initial ELPAC Moodle Training Site] button, and request LEA trainer Moodle reporting access by submitting the individuals' names and email addresses.
Moodle User Accounts
Individuals who already have Moodle accounts from a previous administration do not need to create a new account. LEA trainers who wish to create individual Moodle accounts for new staff can use the template posted in Moodle. Filling out and submitting a User Account file is an easy way to create accounts for all test examiners in the LEA. The file can be populated with staff members' names and email addresses. Populated files should be emailed to SCOE at elpac@scoe.net . Once the file is imported into Moodle, Moodle will send a confirmation email to each person listed in the file that a new account has been requested. Each person will need to confirm the account by selecting the link in the email confirmation. Instructions for using the Moodle User Account Template can be found in the Moodle Training Site User Guide on the Moodle home page.
Digital Training Binders
The content of the Initial ELPAC training binder has not changed. Training binders will be available in digital format in the Trainer Resources courses in Moodle and will not be available to order. If you currently have a printed version, you may continue to use it. The new digital version can be downloaded by section or in its entirety. The digital version has been updated for accessibility and now includes trainer notes.
Questions regarding the training and scoring of the ELPAC can be emailed to the SCOE ELPAC Project Team at elpac@scoe.net . Questions regarding Moodle can be emailed to SCOE Moodle Support at moodlesupport@scoe.net.
