CERS Update for LEA Coordinators
ELPAC email update, January 12, 2023.
Dear LEA CAASPP Coordinator or LEA ELPAC Coordinator:
The California Educator Reporting System (CERS) offers LEA staff the earliest access to student results from the latest CAASPP and ELPAC summative assessments, as well the Smarter Balanced Interim Assessments. This email is intended to provide information to support educators in using CERS.
Ensuring Teacher Access to Assessment Results in CERS
Ensuring teacher access to assessment results in CERS requires the following two actions on the part of the LEA test coordinator:
1) Assign teachers an appropriate role in the Test Operations Management System (TOMS). Assigning teachers an appropriate TOMS role now will allow for the earliest access to summative and interim assessment results in CERS.
and
2) Upload student groups into CERS. This step can be completed either through the manual upload process or through CERS integration with the LEA's student information system
.
If you have any questions about creating TOMS accounts for teachers in your LEA or uploading student groups into CERS, please contact your LEA's designated Success Agent. LEA Success Agent information is in the link at the conclusion of this email.
The CERS "Instructional Resources" Button
On the "Results" page in CERS for any Interim Assessment Block (IAB), users may notice the "Instructional Resources" button. This button links directly to groups of lesson plans called Interim Assessment Connections Playlists. Each lesson plan and performance progression included in a playlist is developed by teachers for teachers, housed in Tools for Teachers, and aligned with the standards assessed by the corresponding IAB. Teachers are encouraged to check out the "Instructional Resources" button for related lesson plans after administering an IAB.
Spring 2023 CERS Webinars
This spring, the CDE will offer a virtual training for CERS users titled "Accessing Summative Assessment Results in CERS." The training will consist of three facilitated modules, each focusing on a specific set of summative assessments. It will cover how to access specific summative assessment results, view and interpret individual score reports, and understand data features (e.g., Lexile and Quantile measures) that are specific to different assessments. Further information about this training, including instructions for registration, will be sent to LEAs in the coming weeks.
Your LEA's designated Success Agent is available for any questions you may have about CERS. Designated LEA Success Agent contact information can be located on the California Outreach web page.
